Our Committee

The committee currently comprises 7 members, all of whom fly actively as well as being involved in organisation and decision making. Active commitment to the promotion and success of the club is not limited to this small group, and input from any of our members is welcome.

Committee

David Barnes

David Barnes
Chairman

David started flying in 1999 at the GHFC and has a PPL with Night rating. He parted company with his beloved Cessna 172 ZS-CML and is currently between planes. David works for a yacht repair company called Action Yachting and enjoys flying, sailing and cycling in his spare time. Unfortunately he doesn't have a Harley, a comm licence or a wine farm, but manages to get by.

Alexia Michaelides

Alexia Michaelides
Vice-Chair

Alexia has been flying since 2001. Her day job is Transplant Manager for Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital and she is also the Flight Coordinator for the Organ Donor Foundation. She is generally friendly and approachable until you mention her age.

Martin Heneck

Martin Heneck
Treasurer

Martin started flying at the Cape Aero Club and shortly after attaining his PPL in 1973 took a brief sabbatical from flying until 2006. He should be licensed again well before the turn of the next millennium – and is enjoying every minute of mastering flying again.

Vossie Vosloo

Vossie Vosloo
Exco

Vossie started his flying career in 1978. He joined Good Hope Flying Club in 1996 and has been on the committee since 2003. Vossie started on his Comm subjects in 1987 but didn't complete them due to time constraints. He recently started on them again! During the week he is in the Wine, Spirits and RTD industry (Production and Bottling Manager for Distell)

Tiana Boyd

Tiana Boyd
Social Events

Tiana is an editor (The Barter Bulletin), journalist and is currently passing her Comm. She enjoys windsurfing, tennis and flying the Tomahawk. She also trained on the Robin DR 400 (which she likes because the T&Ps mostly sit neatly in the green!) at the Aero Club du Bas Armagnac in France and glides in the Pegase. She enjoys French cooking, reading and is pleased to join the Committee.

Neel Jethwa

Neel Jethwa
Aircraft Maintenance

Neel started flying in 1993 as an RAF Air Cadet. By 18 he had his PPL and pursued his passion for aviation by becoming a pilot with the Royal Air Force where he flew the Beech Super King Air 200 and later the Nimrod MR2. He has a JAA fATPL, a SA CPL and is considering taking the steps to become a Flying Instructor. Neel also enjoys SCUBA Diving and is a volunteer at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
